Olinthos

Olinthos constitutes the Historical Capital of the Municipality of Polygyros. The tradition attributes the foundation of the city to the hero Olinthos, son of the god Strimonas, while Irodotos reports that it was conquered by the Vottiaious of Imathia of the 7th century B.C ,when after their prosecution from the Macedonians, were moved to Chalkidiki and were installed in the Southern hill.
