| Hospitality at Monasteries |
The monks follow the old Julian calendar and the Byzantine hour (at the sundown, apart from the Iberians, that have as a base the east). With the sundown all the abbeys close, in order to reopen at the sunrise.
A lot before it the campanile man of every abbey strikes the bell rhythmically and calls his brothers to the mattins.
How deeply feels the faith in the god someone that wakes up with this sound of the bell and hears afterwards the divine melody of psalms, as he adds his own candle in the very little light of the others, that lit up faintly the nimbus of Christ and Virgin Mary in the temple and the pale ascetic faces of the monks in the psalter, and inhales in the temple the benzoin!
All the holy services in the abbeys, from the Mattins to the Light of the Vespertine, are made with devoutness, that only the ones that have experienced them can feel it , and they lift up the soul of the believers to the Skies. Here you often feel like flying in the world of Angels.
