The Abbey is built above the sea, in the southwest side of the peninsula, between the Abbeys Dionissos and Simonos Petra and is dedicated to Saint Nikolaos. The Catholic was built and wall painted after the middle of the 18th century. The Abbey has ten chapels and four cells in Karyes.
The Monastery was built in the 14th century and after then minimal information exists for it. The Russian sightseer of the 18th century Barsky reports that the abbey was renovated in 1500, that it is the smallest of the abbeys and that in the big fire of 1761 almost all the heirlooms and the documents that existed there were lost. After that follows a period of desolation, when with the help of souvereigns from Moldovlahia, the Abbey gets reconstructed.
Inside the Catholic of the Abbey are kept a lot of heirlooms and icons, from which are distinguished those of Saint Nikolaos, Virgin Mary Galaktotrofousas and Virgin Mary Pantanassas.
In the library are kept 297 manuscripts, about 4.000 books and lots of documents.
In the abbey is installed a fraternity of 70 monks.
