The commune skete of Prophet Ilia is lived by 12 Greek monks. Before the skete was built, near the abbey existed some cells of the quieter monks. In 1757 the Ukranian monk Paisij Welitschowskij with lots of Moldavian and Ukrainian monks got installed there. The cells finally evolved into the Russian skete of prophet Ilia in 1839. Until 1903 the skete, with the support and the financing of the Russian czars, was developed into a big building and an enormous, impressive church.
The Catholic (central church) was inaugurated in 1903. It is dedicated to the prophet Ilia, in Saint Alexandra and in the Apostle Andrea. Its internal decoration is rich, nevertheless it does not have any fresco. The Skete keeps priceless objects of adoration and also has a rich enough library.
