| The mountainous Pilio |
Villages of unique architecture adorn the slopes of Pilio. They are built in a densely wooded region with a multiform flora and rich waters that spring from everywhere. The access to the villages of Pilio is easy through the good road network, as well as the paths and cobbled roads- a real enjoyment for the lovers of walking tourism. Luxurious hostels and rented rooms with all comforts call for unforgettable days.
In winter, the Ski Centre of Pilio becomes a place for white vacations, a few kilometres away from the waters of Aegean and Pagasitikos. Two basic roads lead the visitor from the city of Volos to the mountains of Pilio.
The first one goes east and, after it crosses coastly the villages of Pagasitikos, it goes up to Trikeri. The same road forks near Neohori to direct to eastern Pilio, with Pouri as a last station.
The second road, in north-eastern direction from Volos, leads to Chania (1200 metres altitude) and from there continues to eastern Pilio. In western Pilio we meet most of the villages: Agjo Onoufrio, Anakasia, Alli Meria, Stagiates, Katohori, Portaria, Makrinitsa, Agria, Drakeia, Chania, Agjo Lavrentio, Kato Lehonia, Ano Lehonia, Agjo Vlassio, Agjo Georgjo, Pinakates, Kala Nera, Kato Gatzea, Vizitsa, Milies, Afetes and Neohori.
In southern Pilio we meet Siki, Argalasti, Xinovrisi, Metohi, Lafko, Promiri, Platania, Liri, Kastri, Katigiorgi, Milina and Trikeri.
