Milies

It has been an important centre of spirit and letters. Here began in 1821 the revolution of Pilio with Anthimo Gazi as a leader. Today, Milies is a creative shelter for many people of letters and art. There is also the historical church of Panmegiston Taxiarhon (1741) in the square of the village with a marvellous gold-filled temple and remarkable post Byzantine hagiographies and the famous historical public Library of Milies that has infrequent old and handwritten books of priceless value.
