In the Prehistoric Years Antiparos was joined with Paros. Residues of the land, that sunk, constitute the islands that are found around it.
In the antiquity the island was named Olyaros. In the 13th century it was renamed to Antiparos. During the Byzantine years it suffered from piratical raids, that were also continued in all the duration of the Medieval Years, which contributed to the desolation of the island.
Big was the destruction from Hayrendin Barbarosa and a little later it was occupied by Turks.
